March 8, 2021 – Mechanicsburg, Pa. – West Shore Home, a leading technology-enabled home improvement company, formally announced a company-wide $15 minimum wage. The policy builds on the company’s longstanding principal to provide its employees with a living wage well above the federal requirement.
West Shore Home is implementing formal compensation guidance requiring all employees in the rapidly growing company to be guaranteed at least $15 per hour.
“Several years ago, we made the decision to dramatically increase our company’s starting wage and minimum wage,” said B.J. Werzyn, Founder and CEO of West Shore Home. “Our core purpose is to bring happiness to every home. We believe that begins within our own team.”
“With industry leading wages, strong benefits, best in class training, and near-limitless opportunity for growth, we are able to fulfill that promise to more than 1,300 amazing professionals and tradespeople. This is an initiative we started years ago, and it’s one I’m thrilled to say that we build upon today.”
West Shore Home stands out in a highly fragmented industry for its ability to leverage technology, apply scientific marketing principles, and develop a unifying internal message across a wide geographic footprint. It continues to grow nationally by bringing retiring home improvement businesses into the West Shore Home team. Each time, West Shore Home ensures their longtime employees will be taken care of in their new company.
“West Shore Home’s commitment to paying industry leading wages has been an integral part of acquiring these great companies,” said Werzyn. “The owners know that we will be as committed to their employees as they are.”
Since 2018, West Shore Home has grown rapidly. From two locations and $20 million in revenue, to nearly 20 locations and expected revenues of more than $500 million in 2021. In each acquisition and new office opening, it brings its best compensation and benefits packages to hundreds of new employees.
“In every instance, we speak to our new teammates on day one and say, ‘First things first, here’s a pay raise’,” says Alexa DeMedal, Director of Integrations, West Shore Home. “It puts them at ease because they know immediately we are committed to them and gives them the freedom to invest in their new roles with West Shore Home.”
