West Shore Home and MITER Brands Donate $25,000 to Central Pennsylvania Food Bank’s MilitaryShare Program
Mechanicsburg, Pa. – West Shore Home, one of the fastest growing home remodeling companies in the nation, and MITER Brands have teamed up to donate $25,000 to the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank’s (CPFB) MilitaryShare program.
Both companies pledged to donate $1,000 for every sack Penn State University football recorded against opposing quarterbacks in October. The Nittany Lions had 12 sacks in the month, equaling a $24,000 pledge. However, West Shore Home and MITER Brands decided to donate an extra $1,000 for a final total of $25,000.
“We are a proud supporter of the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank and the important work they do to ensure no one goes hungry in our region,” said B.J. Werzyn, President and CEO, West Shore Home. “One of our core values at West Shore Home is doing the right thing always. Making sure veterans who served our country with honor have a meal on the table each day is the least we can do to repay them for their service.”
“The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank is an important resource for struggling families in our local communities, and we’re happy to support the work they do to provide quality meals for those in need,” said Matt DeSoto, CEO, MITER Brands. “We live in the greatest nation in the world because of the selfless veterans who protect our liberties every day. Supporting Food Bank’s MilitaryShare program aligns with the MITER Foundation’s pillars of Community Outreach and Veteran’s Affairs and is an act of gratitude from our family to those who sacrificed so much for our safety and security.”
The CPFB’s MilitaryShare program helps provide fresh, nutritious food to veterans in need. The program helps serve more than 10,000 people across Central Pennsylvania. Last year, the MilitaryShare program distributed more than 3.5 million meals, which is more than four million pounds of food, to veterans in need.
“This generous gift from our two long-time partners, MITER Brands and West Shore Home, will help us continue to improve the lives of our veteran neighbors and their families by providing the highest quality service and nutritious, nourishing food,” said
Joe Arthur, CEO of the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank. “Veterans face life-threatening challenges – many of which are the result of serving our country – and deserve more help than the government can provide.”
MilitaryShare recipients receive multiple boxes filled with fresh produce and milk, one dozen eggs, cheese, meat, and pantry staples such as pasta, sauce, soup, and cereal.
