West Shore Home donates $10K to MilitaryShare food program

West Shore Home today announced its donation of $10,000 to the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank’s MilitaryShare Mobile Food Distribution program. With West Shore Home’s donation, MilitaryShare will be able to provide food to veterans, as well as active duty service-members and their families for several months at its 22 distribution locations throughout Central Pennsylvania.

“We are honored to participate in this project, which addresses a significant need for our nation’s heroes and their families, ” said B.J. Werzyn, owner of West Shore Home. “MilitaryShare is providing veterans all across central Pennsylvania with healthy meals, and to be able to donate to this cause is humbling. West Shore Home is committed to giving back to veterans, and we could not be prouder to donate to such a noble cause.”

In Central Pennsylvania, nearly 26 percent of households receiving food assistance have at least one member who has served in the military. MilitaryShare works to meet the needs of veterans, active duty service-members and their families by providing fresh, nutritious foods including produce, milk, eggs and meat, as well as pantry staples. “Veterans and members of the military help us in our nation’s times of need. It’s critical that we help them in theirs,” said Joe Arthur, executive director of the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank. “We could not do that without the generous support of sponsors like West Shore Home, who are committed to helping our veterans and showing them the respect they so rightfully deserve.”
